While looking for legitimate charges, or a reason to kill the crime leader in the line of duty; Dante finds out that submissive shifters are being physically and mentally abused in the course of being used by Unyanka as drug mules and property trades to settle debts. Furthermore they are denied the right to even Challenge or defend themselves. They are voiceless and without a dominant willing to speak up for them and bring charges, there’s no proof and no place to run.
Despite the fact that it endangers the truth about her identity, Dante begins taking the mistreated shifters home with her and becomes more than a little involved. Through them she learns a way to make all of the submissive shifters in the territory safe, while bringing down Unyanka in the process. It’ll mean coming up from under the radar and jumping into the Trifecta’s politics with both feet. It’ll also means changing the lives of countless submissive shifters and opening herself up to detection. There’s no doubt that their lives are more important than her secret and the abilities and power it hides from her allied government, and her enemies alike. But can she protect them if her secret gets out?
